Coconut Coir Fiber

Coconut Coir is an ecologically friendly byproduct of the coconut industry. Coconut husks that use to be burned or discarded are now being turned into one of the worlds finest organic growing mediums. Coconut Coir is a completely renewable resource and a much needed alternative to bog dredged peat moss. Peat bogs are valuable habitats that support endangered wildlife and are disappearing at an astonishing rate worldwide. The coconut husk processing industry also supports the economies and peoples of Sri Lanka and India in addition to helping them recover from the devastating effects of the recent tsunami.

• Coir is an excellent addition to potting mixes for starting seeds or for potting plants.
• Coir holds up to 10 times its weight in water and does not repel water like peat moss.
• Coir resists compaction and has excellent drainage and porosity.
• Coir has a natural pH of 5.2 to 6.8.
• Coir is naturally weed and pathogen free and resists mold and bacterial growth.
• Coir aids in the rapid growth and root development of transplants.
• Coir is compressed into bricks and blocks for easy storage and use.
• Coir is reusable (for up to four years) and a renewable resource.

We offer three different types of Coconut Coir products: Coconut Coir Fiber, Coconut coir Fiber Pith and Coconut Husk Chips.

Application Rate:

Add 5 quarts of water per brick. Allow water to absorb. Stir to a fluffy texture.

Available as a compressed brick (1/3 cu.ft expanded), a compressed block (1.8 cu.ft expanded) and a compressed bale (4.5 cu.ft expanded).
